E’ in costante aumento il numero di persone che all’automobile preferisce una scelta più verde e attiva. Sembra che un italiano su tre elegga la bicicletta, almeno idealmente, a mezzo preferito.
Per quanto sia in crescita il fenomeno ciclistico urbano, non c’è dubbio sul persistente divario che intercorre tra l’Italia e molti altri paesi europei, dove questo mezzo di locomozione si è ampiamente imposto nell’uso quotidiano. Di fatto le incipienti iniziative per incrementare il trasporto a due ruote si trovano ancora in fase di collaudo – se non di gestazione, in certi casi.
Un recente studio pubblicato dall’Unece e dall’Ufficio regionale Oms per l’Europa ha dimostrato che a Roma, soltanto adottando lo stesso modello di bike sharing di Copenhagen (città leader in Europa con il 26% del trasporto in città su due ruote), si potrebbero creare oltre 3.200 nuovi posti di lavoro.
Molti studiosi lavorano per rendere più pratica e confortevole questa soluzione, con ingegnose biciclette che ne facilitino la pratica. Vi presentiamo tre interessanti modelli Made in Italy.
Sada bike: bicicletta senza raggi
Sarà in commercio entro fine 2015. La Sadabike, incubata dal Politecnico di Torino, è la prima bicicletta senza raggi, ideata dal giovane ingegnere Gianluca Sada. È realizzata in alluminio e il suo peso si aggira attorno ai 10 kg. L’assenza di raggi non sacrifica le ruote, il cui diametro risulta comunque di 26 pollici.
La forma a forbice del telaio, non soltanto conferisce un aspetto ricercato e futuristico, ma permette di piegare la bicicletta fino a farle assumere in pochi secondi le dimensioni di un normale ombrello. Sada ha ricevuto molti riconoscimenti per la sua invenzione: ha raggiunto il primo posto per il premio “IDEA-TO” come “miglior tesi di laurea a carattere innovativo”, ed è stato annoverato tra i 200 migliori talenti d’Italia.
3DOM: libertà
3DOM è l’acronimo per Free driving over Milano, ma la lettura Freedom ne suggerisce il principale punto di forza. Si tratta di una bicicletta a tre ruote senza manubrio (ideata dai fratelli Danilo e Angelo Mattellini), che consente di mantenere libere le mani durante la guida. Tale libertà d’azione offre numerosi vantaggi, dal reggere un ombrello a portare a spasso il cane.
Ma se non col manubrio, come direzionarla? La risposta è, nella sua semplicità, impressionante. È infatti una pura questione di baricentro. Il sistema di leve ed angoli permette di sterzare attraverso il semplice movimento della testa e delle spalle, come se si stesse camminando. 3DOM è costruita in gran parte di bambù, che la rende molto leggera. Il progetto mira innanzitutto alle aziende: ad esempio, ai dipendenti della nuova sede di Facebook negli Stati Uniti (che si estende per 40mila mq).
Ciclovespa
Di tutt’altro genere, ma non meno interessante è la Ciclovespa, ideata dall’omonima ditta e brevettata dalla Metalgelli. Se le precedenti biciclette puntano ad agevolare i ciclisti, la Ciclovespa intende crearne nuovi. Si rivolge a quella percentuale di popolazione che resta normalmente esclusa dal target.
Attraverso un sistema snodabile, il telaio monoblocco è collegato ad un carrello laterale, dove è possibile inserire la sedia a rotelle con una fluida integrazione. L’oscillazione bilaterale garantisce un’ottima tenuta di strada e un’eccezionale guidabilità. La Ciclovespa ha dunque donato una passeggiata in bici a chi altrimenti non avrebbe potuto.

The number of people who choose a bike, a green and healthy option, instead of the car is constantly increasing. Apparently, an Italian out of three chooses the bike, ideally at least, as favorite means of transport.
Although the urban cycling phenomenon is spreading, undoubtedly, there is still a considerable gap between Italy and many other European countries, where this means of transport is widely used in everyday life. In fact, the consistent effort to spread the two-wheel transportation is still just a testing phase – or gestation, sometimes. A recent study, published by Unece and Ufficio regionale Oms per l’Europa, has shown that, just by adopting Copenhagen’s bike-sharing system – which represents 26% of the capital transportation and makes Copenhagen the leader city of Europe – more than 3.200 job opportunities would be granted in Rome.
Many researchers are at work to make this solution more practical and comfortable. We offer you three interesting made-in-Italy models.
Sada bike: the spokeless bike
It will be available by the end of 2015. Sada Bike, created by Turin’s engineering school, is the first spokeless bike, designed by young engineer Luca Sada. This bike is made of aluminum and its weight is about 10 kg. The absence of spokes does not compromise the bike’s wheels, whose diameter corresponds to 26 inches anyway.
Its scissors-shaped frame gives the bike a polished and futuristic aspect and allows you to bend it until, within a few seconds, it reaches the size of a common umbrella. Sada has been rewarded several times for his invention: he has received the “IDEA-TO” award, his project has been recognized as “best innovative degree thesis”, and has been included among Italy’s 200 best young talents.
3DOM: freedom
3DOM is the acronym for Free driving over Milan, but by reading “freedom” we can easily understand what is the bike’s strong point. This is a handlebarless, three-wheel bike (designed by the brothers Danilo and Angelo Mattellini), which allows you to ride your bike with your hands free. This freedom offers several advantages, such as the possibility of holding an umbrella or walking your dog.
But how can you ride a bike without the handlebar? The answer is, in its simplicity, impressive. In fact, it is just a matter of barycenter. The system of levers and angles allows you to steer by simply moving your head and shoulders, as if you were walking. 3DOM is mainly made of bamboo, which makes it very light. This project is aimed at companies, at the employees of the new Facebook seat in the United States (which is 40 thousand square meters wide).
Ciclovespa
The company that has its same name and was patented by Metalgelli created Ciclovespa. This bike is completely different from the others, but not less interesting. In fact, the previous models are designed to support cyclists, while Ciclovespa aims at creating new ones. This bike was created for the percentage of people who are normally kept out of customers’ target.
Through an adjustable system, the single-piece frame is linked to a side carriage, where a wheelchair can be easily inserted. The bilateral oscillation grants an excellent road handling and makes the bike very easy to ride. In this way, Ciclovespa has given to people, who normally cannot ride a bike, the chance to do so.
