Marco Rizzuto e Giovanni Grieco, il primo laureato in architettura, il secondo lavora in banca sono i due ventottenni che assieme hanno dato vita alla loro creatura: FABtotum
Visti al Make Faire Roma, sono una delle start up che più hanno successo sul web, non solo in Italia. Da Indigogo, piattaforma crowdfunding già citata in precedenza , sono riusciti a trovare fondi per start up, presentando solamente l’idea, raccogliendo quasi 600mila dollari da paesi come la Germania, Finlandia, Gran Bretagna, Asia e per finire ovviamente la California, terra avvezza a queste realtà grazie alla sua fabbriche dalle idee d’oro, la Silicon Valley.
Nuovamente parleremo di stampanti 3D, ma questa storia merita un articola a se. Eppure in America questa realtà esiste da più tempo rispetto al nostro paese, ma sono servite due teste italiane per creare un nuovo prodotto, eccezionale che fonde la tradizionale stampante 3D con lo scanning e la fresatura, cosi da avere queste tre funzioni in un unico macchinario: print, mill, scan.
Il “personal fabricator” ecco il nome del prodotto della FABtotum, da maggio 2014 esce sul mercato mondiale, la creatura dei due giovani italiani, che si pone come obbiettivo quello di aprire le porte della prototipazione al pubblico più vasto, alla massa e dare inizio a quella che tanti chiamano la “rivoluzione industriale manifatturiera”.
La data di fondazione di questa start up risale al 1 gennaio 2011, nel suo cammino l’impresa si fa notare vincendo il Premio Switch2Product, 2° Edition al Politecnico di Milano, che la accudisce e che ha reso possibile questo sogno Made in Italy, grazie al Polihub ormai famoso incubatore aziendale, medicina per la crisi. Interessante sapere che la stampante è stata protagonista e partecipò al programma televisivo RAI di Piero Angela, Super Quark, nell’agosto del 2013. Insomma grandi successi pur non essendo ancora in circolazione.
Rizzuto: “con queste macchine invece le persone possono costruirsi da soli gli oggetti di cui hanno bisogno. Come un paio d’occhiali, ad esempio, o dei particolari gadget da regalare a una festa”
La stampante avrà un costo contenuto che non supererà i 900€. Sarà possibile acquistarla non assemblata, al prezzo di €749.00 e assemblata a €824.00.

Marco Rizzuto and Giovanni Grieco, the former holds a degree in Architecture and the second works in a bank, are two twenty eight-years-old that gave life to their creature: FABtotum.
Seen at the Make Faire Roma, they are one of the web’s most successful start up, and not only in Italy. From Indigogo, a crowd-funding platform previously quoted, they managed to find start up’s funds just presenting the idea. They raised almost $ 600.000 from Germany, Finland, and UK, even from Asia and finally, of course, from California a land used to this kind of realities, thanks to her golden ideas’ factory, the Silicon Valley.
One more time, we are going to talk about 3D printers, but I believe their story deserves a separate article. Even if this reality yet exists in America since more time than in Italy, they needed two Italian minds to create a new extraordinary product that merges the traditional 3D printer with scanning and milling, so to have three different functions in a single machinery: printing, milling and scanning.
The “personal fabricator” (personal maker), that is the name of the FABtotum’s product, the two young Italian’s creature, will be out in the global market from May 2014. Their objective is to open the prototypization to an extended audience, to the mass and to start what a lot of people call “the manufacturing industrial revolution”.
The constitution date of this start up is 1st. January 2011. During his path, the enterprise drew attention by winning the 2nd edition of the Premio Switch2Product in the Politecnico di Milano, which made possible this Made in Italy dream, thanks to the Polihub, famous start-up assistance. That is a crisis’ remedy. I think it is interesting to know that the printer has been protagonist to Super Quark, a scientific Italian TV show, in August 2013. Well, a great achievement though it is not available yet.
Said Rizzuto: “ People could make themselves what they may need, like a pair of glasses or some kind of particular gadgets to give in a party.”
The printer will have a controlled cost that won’t exceed € 900,00. It would be possible to buy it unassembled for € 749,00 and already set up for € 824,00.
