La fotografia ha il potere di immortalare un momento che dura per sempre. Un mondo in continua evoluzione che riesce ad affascinare tutti. Com’è cambiata la concezione di immagine istantanea? Qual è, oggi, il valore di uno scatto?
Fotografare è come fermare il tempo per un attimo e renderlo eterno, fissare l’emozione in uno scatto. La fotografia è un’arte misteriosa espressa attraverso l’immagine di una sensazione istantanea, il frutto di un gesto meccanico, un clic che sa bloccare lo scorrere veloce del tempo.

Oggi quest’arte è diventata molto più accessibile: smarthphone e tablet sono dotati di fotocamere ultramoderne, esistono innumerevoli app e programmi di fotoritocco e le piattaforme, dedicate esclusivamente alla condivisione di foto, registrano milioni di utenti. Insomma,oggi tutti possono sentirsi dei piccoli fotografi grazie a Instagram o Tumblr,ed è proprio in base a ciò che è possibile capire come e quanto sia cambiata la concezione di fotografia. È molto più semplice accostarsi a questo magico mondo grazie al potere del web ma, senza dubbio, esiste una netta differenza tra questo tipo di utilizzo amatoriale e l’uso che ne fa chi, invece, studia l’arte fotografica e la pratica professionalmente.
Oggi uno scatto ha molteplici valori, può rappresentare uno stato d’animo, un momento della propria quotidianità, un evento o un gesto, ma sarà sempre qualcosa che ha regalato un’emozione, anche solo per un secondo. Cogliere un’immagine con gli occhi e subito il cuore sente il bisogno di catturarla: è proprio questo il profondo valore di una foto, ieri come oggi. L’innovazione tecnologica ha tanti i vantaggi ma la digitalizzazione ha reso meno immediato la percezione emotiva della fotografia. Portare a sviluppare un rullino ed aspettare ansiosamente che le foto siano pronte, non vedere l’ora di toccare quel momento impresso su carta. Una sensazione che oggi è quasi dimenticata perché gli album fotografici sono tra le cartelle dei computer e nella memoria del cellulare. Sì, decisamente più immediato ma molto meno poetico.
Il futuro è ancora tutto da vedere, la fotografia è nelle mani delle nuove generazioni. Senza dimenticare le lezioni dei grandi nomi del passato, si potrà rendere le immagini istantanee ancora più evolute e condivisibili. Volti e storie fissate in un’immagine non passeranno mai di moda, soprattutto quelle che coinvolgono e fanno riflettere anche l’osservatore meno attento.

Photograph has the power to capture an everlasting moment, a world constantly evolving which still fascinates everyone. How has the idea of instant image changed? What does a shot mean today?
Taking photos is just like stopping time for a moment and making it endless, fixing emotion into a shot. Photography is a mysterious art expressed through the image of an instant feeling, the result of automatic hand, a click stopping the fast passing by of time.
Today this art has become more accessible. Smartphones and tablets are provided with ultramodern cameras, there are lots of apps and photo editing programs, and platforms devoted to exclusively share photos count thousand users. So today, everyone may feel a photographer thanks to Instagram or Tumblr, and this is what makes us understand how or how much the concept of photography has changed. It is much easier to get closer to this magic world thanks to the power of the web. Anyway, there is undoubtedly difference between this kind of amateur usage and the use that those who study photographic art and professionally practice it make of it.
Today a shot has multiple values. It may represent a feeling, a moment in someone’s everyday life, an event or an action, but it will always be something that gave us an emotion, even for only a second. You catch an image with your eyes and suddenly your heart feels the need to catch it. This is definitely the deep value of a photo, now like then. Technological innovation has many advantages, but digitalization has made emotive perception of photography less immediate. The feeling of developing a roll and impatiently waiting for the photos to be ready, of looking forward to touch that moment stamped on the paper, has been almost forgotten today. Photo albums are in computers’ folders and in the telephone memory. Yes, surely more immediate but far less poetic.
Future is yet to be seen, photography is in new generations’ hands. Without forgetting the lessons by the great names of the past, we will make instant images even more developed and sharable. Faces and stories fixed in an image will never go out of fashion, especially those able to involve even the most inattentive observer and make him reflect.
