La musica indie, si sa, è il vero cuore pulsante della musica odierna, che riesce a differenziarsi dalle logiche di mercato e dà la possibilità a un infinità di artisti dei più disparati generi di esprimersi.
Ed è nella stagione dell’innovazione, delle nuove idee e della rinascita, la primavera, che The Walkman vi presenta 5 artisti indipendenti, italiani e e non, e le loro nuove uscite, che continuano a alimentare il vivaio musicale contemporaneo.

SAID – ISTRUZIONI PER LOSER
I SAID sono un trio modenese nato nel 2002 che suona quel che loro definiscono scherzosamente “crunch-core”, una miscela di punk melodico, funk, metal, elettronica, e a tratti perfino reggae e flamenco, il tutto però in uno stile accattivante e accessibile, anche grazie ai testi in italiano.
Quest’anno, il 20 maggio, è in uscita il loro nuovo album, Istruzioni per Loser, con sonorità più dure, complesse, e leggeri richiami ai Muse, anticipato dal singolo Il Dramma del Buono, e da un tour nei locali del Nord Italia. Da non perdere.
LABRADORS – THE GREAT MAYBE
I Labradors sono una band atipica. Nel senso che a occhi chiusi sembrerebbe di ascoltare una indie band americana con tutti i crismi, ma in realtà in essa batte un cuore italiano. Tra Milano e Cantù, il terzetto ha infatti il pregio di avere un sound molto internazionale, che si discosta abbastanza dai colleghi nostrani, una sorta di power pop-indie-alternative rock molto catchy e testi in inglese.
Tutto ciò è riscontrabile nel nuovo disco uscito a inizio Marzo, The Great Maybe, con un sound solido e molto accattivante, e pure con evidenti omaggi ai Foo Fighters nella title track.
LE PINNE – AVETE VINTO VOI
Così come ai SAID, anche a queste due ragazze di Milano non manca il senso dello humor, dato che autodefiniscono il loro genere “pop marino”, una sorta di musica indie pop delicata e gradevole, con testi ironici e auto-referenziali.
È stato appena pubblicato il nuovo lavoro, Avete vinto voi, che contiene 8 tracce con melodie dolci ma pregne di una (neanche tanto) sottile ironia, come Il Genio.
I NASTRI – COS’HAI IN MENTE?
Nella musica indie italiana è possibile trovare esponenti quali I Nastri, che riescono abilmente a congiungere synthpop, elettronica, e l’anima acustica e analogica dell’indie. Di nota il primo singolo Una Cosa Seria e la title track, estratti da Cos’hai in mente?, la loro nuova fatica, con appunto un sound elettronico coinvolgente e un cantato tra il monotono e l’animato.
LA SERA – MUSIC FOR LISTENING TO MUSIC TO
Similmente ai Labradors, ma al contrario, i La Sera possono sembrare dal nome un gruppo italiano, ma sono in realtà una coppia di giovani coniugi californiani che si è creata uno status da band cult nella scena della musica indie internazionale. La loro nuova opera uscita a marzo è Music For Listening To Music To, nel quale troviamo il loro caratteristico dream pop, misto a elementi della tradizione USA come il country e il folk, il tutto contornato dalla voce eterea e soave della cantante.

Talking about modernity, innovation, and rebirth, The Walkman Magazine presents 5 independent artists, out of which 4 are Italian, and their latest albums, which constitute a great contribution to the contemporary music world.
SAID – ISTRUZIONI PER LOSER
SAID are a trio from Modena which was born in 2002. They define jokingly their music as “crunch-core”, which is a combination between melodic punk, funk, metal, electronic music, with a touch of reggae and flamenco. Their songs are written in Italian and have catchy tunes. Do not miss their new album, “Istruzioni per Loser”, which was released on the 20th of May . It has harder and more complex tunes, which sometimes remind of Muse songs. The lead single is “Il Dramma del Buono” and the trio have already performed live in some clubs of Northern Italy.
LABRADORS – THE GREAT MAYBE
Labradors are an atypical band. In fact at the beginning you might think that they are a 100% American indie band, but as a matter of fact the members of this trio come from Milan and Cantù. Their songs have an international sound, with catchy tunes that combine power pop, indie and alternative rock, and the lyrics are written in English. Do not miss their latest album, “The Great Maybe”, which was released in March. The sound of this album is very catchy and well-structured and the title track pays tribute to Foo Fighters.
LE PINNE – AVETE VINTO VOI
This band is made up from two girls from Milan, which have a great sense of humour, like the SAID, since they define their music as “marine pop”, a sort of delicate and pleasing indie pop, with ironical and almost autobiographical lyrics. Their new album, “Avete vinto voi”, has just been released and includes 8 tracks with delicate tunes and lyrics full of a subtle irony, like Il Genio, but not so subtle.
I NASTRI – COSA HAI IN MENTE?
I Nastri are an Italian indie band which combine skilfully synthpop, electronic music, with the natural and acoustic sounds of indie music. Two of their most interesting songs from their new album “Cos’hai in mente?” are “Una Cosa Seria”, the leading single, and the title track. The sound of this album is electronic and captivating, while the vocals have both a monotonous and lively style.
LA SERA – MUSIC FOR LISTENING TO MUSIC TO
Contrarily to the Labradors, which are an Italian band with an English name, La Sera are a band with an Italian name, but the members, Katy Goodman and Todd Wisenbaker, come from California. They are married and have become a cult band in the scenario of international indie music. Their new album, “Music For Listening To Music To”, was released in March. The sound of this album is a combination between dream pop and traditional USA genres, like country and folk, with pleasing and angelic vocals performed by Katy Goodman.
