Trail Me Up: è questo il nome dell’app sviluppata da due giovani italiani e pensata per esplorare la natura incontaminata.
Fabio Zaffagnini e Gabriele Garavini sono gli ideatori di un progetto che ha battuto sul tempo Google, pensando di estendere il concetto di street view ai luoghi raggiungibili solamente a piedi. Fabio, geologo marino, ricercatore del CNR di Bologna ed appassionato di trekking è stato il primo ad avere questa intuizione e, per poter realizzare il suo progetto ha contattato Gabriele, esperto informatico, analista programmatore per Agronica.
Dopo un approccio iniziale per comprendere come muoversi per poter realizzare questa iniziativa, i due hanno fatto un test di prova sul Gran Sasso, e riscontrandone il successo hanno depositato il loro brevetto ed hanno iniziato la loro avventura. Oggi Trail Me Up è una società che offre un servizio del tutto unico e spettacolare.

Il sito di Trail Me Up offre la mappatura di una considerevole parte dei rilievi italiani più interessanti e di alcuni siti oltralpe, come la Turchia, la Nuova Zelanda, l’America, Cuba. Attraverso questi dati si può ammirare il paesaggio di questi luoghi così come lo vedremmo attraversandoli a piedi.
La creazione delle visite virtuali avviene mediante una mappatura e quindi una rielaborazione dei dati. La mappatura avviene acquisendo una serie di foto panoramiche mediante un sistema montato su un apposito zaino, il Trail Me Up backpack, che viene trasportato da un operatore lungo il suo percorso, scattando migliaia di foto panoramiche georeferenziate. In seguito avviene la mappatura dove vi si possono inserire anche contenuti extra, divulgativi e tecnici legati al sito visitato.
Ognuno, privato o azienda, può proporsi per partecipare attivamente a questa iniziativa, compilando l’apposita richiesta sul sito di Trail Me Up, permettendo così di ampliare l’offerta di questa iniziativa ma anche di incentivare il proprio business e di dare maggiore impulso ai luoghi di interesse paesistico.

Trail Me Up: That’s the name of the app developed by two young Italians to facilitate forays into the wild.
Fabio Zaffagnini and Gabriele Garavini are the developers of a project that beat Google to the punch, with the idea to extend the concept of street view to places only reachable on foot. Fabio, marine geologist, researcher with Bologna’s CNR and trekking aficionado, was the first to have this idea, and to realise his project he contacted Gabriele, an IT specialist and analyst programmer for Agronica.
After an initial approach to determine the kind of efforts that would be necessary for such an undertaking, the two had a trial attempt on the Gran Sasso, and having been met with successful results, they patented the project and got to work. Today, Trail Me Up is a society that offers a unique and spectacular service.
Trail Me Up’s website offers the mapping of the most important Italian elevations, as well as that of a few transalpine chains, in Turkey, New Zealand, United States and Cuba. Through these pieces of data one can admire the beauty of these places as if one was walking through them.
The creation of these virtual walks in the woods are created through the mapping of the areas and then an elaboration of the data. The mapping takes place by taking thousands of geolocated panoramic photos shot from a special backpack carried by an operator, the Trail Me Up Backpack. Afterwards the mapping takes place, during which one can also attach extra content linked to the specific location.
Anyone, either as a private or as a company can volunteer to actively participate in this endeavour, filling the pertinent papers on Trail Me Up and thus making more and more places available, other than advertising one’s company and boosting interest towards certain places.
